The beautiful historic town of Coloma is on the South Fork of the American River and just 5 miles away. If you want gas and food head to Cool, CA just 5 miles north of the ranch. You can be in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2 ½ hours or up skiing or boating at Lake Tahoe in 1 ½ hours.
