Area Information: Nearby Yreka has a population of just under 8,000 and is the county seat of Siskiyou County. It’s at an elevation of approx. 2500 feet, with an average summer high of 88 degrees. The area gets an average of 17 inches of rainfall and 20 inches of snowfall – so you’ll get to enjoy all 4 seasons. Yreka has a small hospital, other medical offices, groceries, hardware stores, a great little historic downtown section of shopping, restaurants, etc.  The other closest town is Fort Jones which was settled in the mid-1800’s as part of the California Gold Rush. Its current population is just over 800 residents. There is a grocery store, farm/irrigation supply store, several delightful restaurants, fitness center, elementary and junior high schools. Here in Siskiyou, you’re truly in northern California, about a half hour from the Oregon border.
